Pricing Options for Classes
You have complete control over how much you want to charge for your offerings and how much you can make. You keep 90%-95% of your income (review transaction fees here).
Deciding what you want to charge is up to you, you can always pop over to the facebook community here to ask the community for advice. Here’s a few good to knows for each type as you plan out what to charge.
This is a flat rate to attend your class. Students cannot give more or less. You can use discount codes to give discounts to this class (under Account - discount codes).
Paid Classes work with:
- Discount codes - only class promo codes can be used for
- Class Packs
Pros & Cons
- Flat rate may encourage more membership or class pack purchases over PWYC.
- Great for newsletter signups - get a discount code to attend (gated).
- You set the value of your class
- No flexibility to students needs
- If priced low, people can’t pay ‘more’ for your class.
This is sliding scale and give you option for donation-based or flexible payment options. You can set a minimum donation about, or start at $0.
PWYC classes works with :
- Class Packs
- Allows you to be free and paid
- Participants may pay more than if set rate.
Note: Cannot use discount codes on PWYC classes.
Simple Enough, if you offer something for free. Since we only charge a % of what you make, there is no cost to lead free events. If you are a new teacher testing out with friends, or leading a special event to gauge interest, we support you!
What Should You Use and Charge?
Deciding what you charge and what type you go with is completely up to you. Give some consideration to your strategy and how you price can impact other potential purchases and which you want to prioritize.
For example, if you do $0 pwyc class, you could get high price donations above what you would charge as a flat rate. We have some instructors that do very well with PWYC as some donate way more than the flat rate. But, people maybe less inclined to opt into your membership or class packs since it adds less value when they can drop in. PWYC at $0 is a great way to get started if you are not sure what to charge and see what people are willing to pay, or if you are new to the teaching and want to offer it for free with the option to make some income.
Think of your intention, who you want to support and your audience to determine what aligns best with you and your students.
